Our sweet Adolf.  The most wonderful German Shepherd and pet we've ever had.  Born March 23, 2006, we got him when he was 10 months old.  I wanted a GSD not only for a family dog, but also for protection.  GSD's are so very smart and loyal, no other breed, in my humble opinion, compares to this beautiful breed.  When we all went to see him, I sat down on a leather sofa, and he was brought upstairs.  He jumped on the sofa and put his nose and both paws in my lap.  Then he looked up at me with those sweet "take me home and love me" golden eyes, and I was a goner.  He was mine.  Adolf came home with us and immediately fit in.  Smart, behaved, and house trained.  In the 8 years we have had him in our family, I can honestly say that I love him with all my heart.  He'll sit in his favorite chair, an Ethan Allen big, green chair, which sits by the window, and he'll watch the cars go by and the neighbors walking by with their dogs, and he'll bark only if someone comes on our property.

We have since had him trained - Schuntzen 1 training - for protection.  The interesting thing about Adolf, is that he knows people.  We can always tell when he doesn't like someone, and it is usually correct.  His instincts are sharp.  When we like someone, he can tell, and he'll sniff them them walk away.  If there is something in our yard at night that doesn't belong there, we'll let him out the front door and he'll take after it like a bullet.  Yep, I'm proud of my Adolf.  Best security system ever.  And, he has a girlfriend ... her name is Bailey.  Bailey is a 2y/o GSD with enough energy to tire out Adolf!  But, we love them both.

UPDATE: Adolf became ill this summer.  So ill that he was losing weight and couldn't keep anything down.  We did everything we could under the care of his vet to keep him going and healthy, to no avail.  Our sweet boy passed away on July 19, 2016.  He had intestinal cancer.
